Schumann Kreisleriana, Op. 16
Rachmaninov Études-Tableaux Op. 39 (selection)
Rachmaninov Preludes, Op. 32 (selection)
Rustem Hayroudinoff piano
Rustem Hayroudinoff performs a chronological journey of pianism spanning three centuries of composition at the Holywell Music Room. The programme includes C.P.E. Bach’s Keyboard Sonata in F sharp minor; an expressive, sensitive second movement framed by energetic opening and closing movements. This is followed by the intense romance of Schumann’s monumental Kreisleriana. Praised by Gramophone as ‘a player in the great Russian virtuoso’, Hayroudinoff concludes his recital with Rachmaninov’s Preludes & Études-tableaux, arguably the pinnacle of 20th-century Romantic piano music.
